Participants in NAR's Green Business Network must meet the following sustainable criteria and fall under the industry categories below:
- Advance or facilitate green principles, specifically that the product, service or service provider has been certified or designated as having characteristics associated with green principles
or
- Can demonstrate a commitment to sustainable practices or programs
Appraisers – LEED AP appraisers or other appraisal industry certification for green valuation
Attorneys – LEED AP attorneys or attorneys who can demonstrate experience in real estate transactions related to green properties
Contaminant Removers / Remediation – companies who specialize in the removal of indoor environmental contaminants and outdoor hazards
Sub-Categories: asbestos, lead, mold, pest, radon, soil
Consultants – LEED AP Consultants or other green certified professionals who offer services to achieve green property certification or guidance on green improvements
Designers – LEED AP Designers or other green certified designers
Sub-Categories: architecture, engineering, interior design, landscaping
Energy Auditors / Raters – Certified raters affiliated with the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) or the Building Performance Institute (BPI).
General Contractors & Remodelers - LEED AP, NAHB, or local green certified general contractor and remodeling professionals / companies
Sub-Categories: residential, commercial
Lenders & Personal Banking – professionals / companies that offer loans or programs for the purchase and construction of properties containing green features or offer full personal banking services electronically.
Marketing – companies having a green certification (i.e. FSC registered printing company) or companies that demonstrate sustainable business practices or programs
Sub-Categories: graphic & Web site design, printing / signs / banners, promotional item vendors, paperless software
Product Vendors – companies that specialize in the sale of green certified products (products must meet the respective green industry certification or meet a minimum standard)
Sub-Categories: energy related (renewable energy, appliances, lighting & control systems, HVAC & control systems, tankless water heating), water efficiency (landscaping, waste water, faucets, toilets, rainwater harvesting), materials and resources (flooring, cabinetry, countertops, paints & coatings, adhesives & sealants, other), insulation and sealing (insulation, windows, doors, siding, roofing), retailers (companies with a comprehensive selection of products)
Third Party Verifiers – professionals / companies that specialize in commissioning, verifying, and rating properties for their respective certification
Sub-Categories: HERS/Energy Star Qualifiers, NAHB verifier, USGBC field/commissioning agent, Regional - Local Program
Title Companies – companies that demonstrate a commitment to sustainable business practices or programs
Other – companies that demonstrate a commitment to sustainable business practices or programs
